Fixperts's first CPD for D&T and STEM teachers
Fixperts is an award-winning, hands-on learning programme that challenges young people to use their imagination and skills to create ingenious solutions to everyday problems. Fixperts is part of FixEd which is a self initiated project by From Now On.
This one day CPD course will look at how teachers can challenge and disrupt the design and technology classroom through implementing inclusive design thinking into their lessons. Participants will try out the range of activities available from Fixperts, exploring how inclusive design, risk-taking, ideation and disruptive technologies can be brought into classrooms in exciting and meaningful ways.
Fixperts excels at engaging learners in solving problems that matter to them, giving them a reason to care about their STEM education. Shorter workshops and activities can be used to introduce pupils to ideas about social and inclusive design, problem identification, iterative design and evaluating ideas with a user in mind. In its fullest form, a Fixperts project can be run over multiple weeks as part of a design, technology, engineering or STEM scheme of work.
Fixperts can also be run as an engaging STEM activity for STEM Clubs and STEM days.
The courses are delivered by Fixperts Schools Associate Minnie Young, who brings her years of design and technology classroom experience to Fixperts team. There will also be opportunities to work with designers and deign graduates, providing a valuable insight into the mindset, skills and knowledge needed for young designers today.
